  3. Welcome to the Nassau Bay Building Department online building inspection request form.

    The Building Department is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and Fridays from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Please note that no inspections will be scheduled during city holidays. Inspection requests should be submitted no later than 3:00 pm the day prior to needing the inspection. Same-day inspection requests are considered emergency inspections, based on availability, and can be subject to an additional fee of $140.00. 

    When making your online request, please make sure:

    • Give specific information about the type of inspection you are requesting. Stating HVAC,  Electrical, Plumbing, or Building is not enough. You will be required to resubmit your request with more specific information.
    • Ensure the work will be complete by the day the inspection is requested. Incomplete work that cannot be inspected is subject to a $70.00 failed inspection fee.
    • Permits should be posted and visible from the street.
    • Ensure all plans related to the work are on-site for the inspector to use during inspections. Plans should be in a visible and accessible location.
    • Ensure all necessary documentation has been submitted to the Building Department and approved as necessary. The Nassau Bay Building Department does not collect paperwork in the field. 
    • Ensure your site is clean. 
    • Ensure the site has a safe way to enter the premises and conduct the inspection. We value our staff’s safety; unsafe job sites are subject to a $35.00 failed inspection fee, $70.00 fee on a second offense.
    • Re-inspections fees would need to be paid prior to being able to schedule any further inspections.
    • We cannot promise a specific time for inspections, however, we do our very best to complete our inspection requests as early as our schedule allows.
    • Inspections are conducted on a first-come-first-serve basis. With that in mind Friday is a half-day for the city and if we are overbooked your inspection will have to be pushed until the next working day.
    • Failure to provide the necessary information can cause a delay in scheduling your inspection request.
    • The weather may cause delays in conducting inspections.
    • Inspection tags are left on every job site unless declined by the property owner. Please refer to these tags for inspection results. 
    • Inspection results are available via email request the day after the inspection took place.
