Grant applications for home elevations are pushed from FEMA in the middle of August each year. If you do not remember, Hurricane (TS) Harvey hit Nassau Bay in late August and flooded 10% of the homes in the City.
This led to an overwhelming response for home elevation applications after residents finished recovery. Over 30 homes were denied during the application process, but 12 were selected to be moved above their respective base flood elevation.
The State signaled that the money will be transferred to the City in the first quarter of 2021, which should result in the first round of homes being elevated before June 2021.
