Continuing Projects

  • Arbor Day.
To encourage an appreciation of the beauty and importance of trees to our community, Club members will present an annual Arbor Day program which features the planting of a tree in Howard Ward Park. City Officials, Garden Club members, school children, and the public will be invited. This ceremony is the continuation of a 37-year Garden Club tradition of planting trees on Arbor Day.
  • Holiday Decoration - Phase X
To promote civic beauty during the Christmas season, members of the Club will add holiday decorations to the Tranquility Arbor. Other areas of the Howard Ward Park will also be decorated in observance of the season.
  • May Day
To advance the fine art of gardening, floral design, and horticulture, Club members will prominently display flower baskets or plants on front yard gaslights. Club members will encourage participation by all Nassau Bay residents.
  • Conservation
To assist in the protection and conservation of natural resources, Club members participate in recycling and conservation programs. The Club recycles aluminum and newspapers at the City of Nassau Bay and delivers other recyclables to Ellington Field. The Club’s conservation committee presents new ideas at each meeting.
  • Nassau Bay Garden Club Scholarship
To further horticultural education, conservation, and landscape design, the Club has established an annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to be awarded to a deserving student majoring in a horticulture-related field or given to an organization that promotes the purpose of our Club.
  • Community Service
Club members will make floral arrangements and decorate plants for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Christmas for the enjoyment of the residents of the Bay Area Turning Point (A Safe Haven).
  • Community Service
Club members will participate in the activities of the Nassau Bay Beautification Day. The Garden Club will make a donation of $600 toward the purchase of plants and other materials.
