What are "essential services" during Harris County's Stay-at-Home Order?

Harris County issued a stay-at-home order to begin March 24th at 11:59pm. This “Stay Home / Work Safe” Order  will continue through 11:59pm on April 3rd. Essential activities include procuring services and supplies, caring for family and pets, engaging in SOCIALY DISTANT outdoor activities, visiting healthcare providers, and performing essential business or government functions.

  • Essential Healthcare Operations, including medical and veterinary services, and blood banks
  • Essential Government Functions, including police, fire, EMS, public works, mail, and security
  • Essential Critical Infrastructure, including utilities, internet/telecommunications, financial institutions, trash collection, construction, manufacturing, and distribution
  • Essential Retail, including restaurants (carryout or delivery only), groceries, pharmacies, gas stations, hardware, and home/auto repair, laundry, and supply products
  • Providers of Basic Necessities to Economically Disadvantaged Populations
  • Essential Services Necessary to Maintain Essential Operations of Residence or Other Essential Business
  • News Media

As a note, Nassau Bay administrative offices will be closed until April 3rd. Area restaurants are open for carryout and delivery. Nassau Bay parks, trails, and the dog park will remain open, but we are encouraging residents to practice social distancing. The playground, pavilion, benches, tennis court, exercise equipment, any area that people would come in contact with others will be off-limits.
